One More Win to Clinch a Playoff Berth

April 10, 2009

The Bulls again find themselves alone in the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference after a win against the Philadelphia 76ers last night.  Five Bulls players scored in double figures in the contest, Ben Gordon and Tyrus Thomas both dropping 24.  Thomas seemed focused on attacking on the offensive end, getting to the line an impressive 14 times.  Thomas hit all 14 of his free throws and showed the type of aggressiveness that he needs to bring on a nightly basis.  If Thomas can get to the line consistently, he’ll provide some of the frontline scoring that could take this team to the next level.

Chicago, at 39-40, sits just one game under the .500 mark with three games to go.  The Bulls will face off with the Charlotte Bobcats tomorrow night, and with a win they’ll clinch a playoff spot.  Even if the Bulls are unable to best the Bobcats, any Chicago win or any Charlotte loss will ensure the Bulls’ participation in the postseason.  Aside from Charlotte, Chicago’s two remaining opponents are Detroit and Toronto, two teams with a record below .500.  Detroit has to face one team with a winning record before their season it out.
