Tied For Seventh Seed

April 6, 2009

The Bulls currently sit in a tie with the Detroit Pistons for the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference and hold a three game lead on the Charlotte Bobcats, who are currently slotted ninth in the conference.  With five of their final six games to be played at the United Center, Chicago looks all but a lock to extend their season into the playoffs.  The Bulls were able to take down the New Jersey Nets by a score of 103-94 on Saturday.  Ben Gordon scored 12 of his 18 points in the final quarter of play to help the Bulls to victory in the contest.  Gordon was the high man for the Bulls with 18 points as six players on the team scored in double figures.

The Bulls have been playing a nice brand of team basketball, where multiple players contribute solid efforts night in and night out.  John Salmons and Brad Miller have both been very good since coming over from Sacramento in a deadline deal in February.  Salmons, in particular, has been exceptional since coming to town.  He’s shown the ability to take over games and carry the team on his back, something that every team needs for stretches in the postseason.  He, Ben Gordon and Derrick Rose are going to be the team’s most important players heading into the playoffs.
