Salmons’ 38 Sink Cs

March 18, 2009

The Bulls won a major statement game last night at home against the reigning champion Boston Celtics.  Not only was it a win against one of the best teams in the association, but it pushed Chicago into sole possession of the final playoff spot in the East.  The Bulls were down by double digits at times in this contest, but stormed back led by John Salmons’ 38-point effort for the 127-121 win.  Salmons has been fantastic since joining the team last month and has scored 62 points in the team’s last two games combined.  This season has truly been a breakout campaign for Salmons, who has always shown his potential to be a do-it-all swingman.

Brad Miller also had a phenomenal game, scoring 21 points on an efficient seven of 12 shooting from the floor.  He added 14 rebounds and five assists as well.  Salmons and Miller have been the best players on the floor for Chicago more often than not since coming over in a trade from Sacramento last month.  The Bulls certainly looked like a playoff team last night, even though Boston was without Kevin Garnett.  Chicago seems to be in the driver’s seat as far as the eighth seed goes, as they appear to be peaking at the right time.
