The Bulls came in at number 18 in ESPN.com writer Marc Stein’s weekly power rankings this week. “Given how low the bar is - as well as the fact that Chicago appears to have the easiest remaining schedule of any team trying to snag No. 8 in the East - Rose might be docked ROY points if the Bulls don’t make it in,” writes Stein. It seems like a lot of people outside of Chicago are still focused on Derrick Rose more than they are on the team itself. The Bulls looks like they could be rounding into form thanks greatly in part to the additions of John Salmons and Brad Miller.
Rose is definitely in the running for the rookie of the year award, but judging by the type of kid he is, I’d say he much more concerned with making the postseason, and not just because it would help his ROY case. Rose has been constantly praised for his character throughout his basketball life and he’s showing it by deferring to teammates when the time is right. His lack of a sense of entitlement is striking for such a high profile player and is a breath of fresh air in an NBA landscape that can at times lack that type of selfless attitude.
