Let’s Talk Playoffs

March 3, 2009

As of today, the Bulls stand just one game out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.  They’re also just four and a half games out of the fifth seed right now, showing how close the race for the bottom half of the playoff seeds really is.  There are also four teams less than three games behind the Bulls, further exemplifying the closeness of the race.  The Bulls are 5-5 in their last 10 games, but figure to improve down the stretch as they adjust to their new personnel.  Both Brad Miller and John Salmons figure to be major contributors for this team coming off the bench; Miller could even supplant Joakim Noah in the starting lineup.

It’s going to be difficult for Milwaukee, currently the eighth seed, to stay afloat due to a number of injuries.  Detroit has also been struggling, though their recent lineup shift could help matters in the Motor City.  The Nets don’t seem to be deep enough to really make a run at the playoffs and Charlotte, Indiana and New York all have their flaws.  The Bulls seem to be well-rounded enough to earn the sixth or seventh seed if things go really well.
