Derrick Rose scored 17 of his 25 points in the final quarter of last night’s 102-98 win over the Toronto Raptors. The rookie added 10 assists in the contest and committed only one turnover. Rose has shown flashes of the incredible player that he could be throughout this season. His dominating fourth quarter performance last night is just one of many examples of Rose’s ability dominate. He’s still learning the game and has a long way to go, which exemplifies his vast potential. He’s already the unquestioned face of the franchise and gets top billing at home games, being announced last in the starting lineup.
Bulls fans have to be encouraged by Luol Deng’s first start since returning from his latest injury. Deng scored 16 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and added four assists in the win. Deng needs to be the Robin to Rose’s Batman for this team to succeed, in the short term and in the long run. Kirk Hinrich also had a solid game, coming off the bench with 12 points, five rebounds and six assists. These guys are two of the highest paid players on the team and they need to perform as such. They’re crucial to the team’s playoff hopes this season.
