Celtics beat Bulls in Chicago… and Rumors of Hinrich Trade… And KG Fighting Benny the Bull

April 2, 2008

Step on over to SpportsIllustrated.com and you can get a bunch of news and gossip about the Chicago Bulls. First up on our list of quick hits: The Bulls lost to the Celtics last night at the United Center, 106 to 92.

This was not a hard one to predict, given the strength of the Celtics, and the fact that the Bulls are having a bad year. While the Celtics were not in top form, even sloppy by some standards, they still could summon enough offense and a few defensive stops to keep the Bulls from inching one game closer to the Eastern Conference playoffs.

  • Now for some rumors. The Rumor Mill at SportsIllustrated.com is called Truth&Rumors, and one of the hottest rumors about the Bulls (according to the Hot Meter to the right of the gossip) is that the Bulls are looking to trade their point guard, Kirk Hinrich. Of course, Ben Gordon might be easier to move given the money he will demand after the season. Will the Bulls then try to get a cool point from the draft? Or will they trade Kirk for another guard? Or will they let Gordon play point?

Celtics will Visit Chicago Tonight

April 1, 2008

The Boston Celtics are coming off of wins over Phoenix, New Orleans and Miami, so they certainly have a head of steam entering their game tonight against the Chicago Bulls. Chicago, meanwhile, has struggled to sustain any sort of winning streak all season long, although they recently won a game versus the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bulls are just three and a half games out of the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, so every game is vitally important. The Celtics, on the other hand, are assured of a spot in the postseason- though exactly which one they snag is still somewhat in jeopardy. We could be seeing a preview of a first round matchup in the East, with the No. 1 Celtics playing the No. 8 Bulls. Wouldn’t that be something?

But first things first. The Bulls will have to play very well tonight at the United Center to get it done versus a Celtics team with weapons everywhere. Potentially, we are looking for Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich to dominate the perimeter, because we just don’t see Gooden and Noah being able to get the best of Kevin Garnett.
