Bulls Want Nene?

May 30, 2007

Among many other options the Chicago Bulls have to try and secure a center or power forward who can score is the Brazilian native they call Nene. Up until the tail end of this season Nene was not all that impressive, but after the Nuggets got Allen Iverson in a trade, he began averaging about 15 points per game, and was a legitimate scoring threat.

Mike McGraw of the Daily Herald makes a good case for why the Denver Nuggets should give up Nene. They are way over the salary cap, and took on a bit more than they can handle with with Iverson. The Bulls, however, are in a good position money-wise, and also have a pretty sweet lottery pick that the Nuggets might be interested in, provided that the Bulls believe that Nene is worth more than whoever is available at the No. 9 spot.

It’s an interesting pick up to consider, and though Nene is not exactly what you would call a “post threat,” he’s still a big body that can score. If Nene comes to Chi-Town, you might want to hurry over to StubHub.com to secure some Chicago Bulls tickets for a few games to see him next season.
