Bulls to Try for Gasol?

May 29, 2007

Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel made an interesting point when he suggested the other day that the Bulls ought to consider giving away their number nine lottery pick to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Pau Gasol. There are a couple of things that might work about such a scenario. The Bulls want a center who can score, and the Grizzlies need some reason to believe. Potentially, the Grizzlies could get two big men for the price of one: Gasol for Horford (their number 4 pick) and Spencer Hawes (at No. 9).

Of course, the Bulls might also have to relinquish Kirk Hinrich, or any number of other prizes to entice them to give up their number one scorer and rebounder. But just think of the implications of getting Chicago Bulls tickets at StubHub.com for games with Pau Gasol. Sounds pretty nice, doesn’t it?
