Bulls Score Soars Above Hawks

April 3, 2007

The Chicago Bulls have now won 11 consecutive games played against the Atlanta Hawks, and used Sunday’s match up to catch up after a big loss to Cleveland the day before.  “It seems like every time we come down here, it’s on a back-to-back situation,” Kirk Hinrich was quoted after the game.  They had a significant stall stepping into Sunday’s game though, that had fans holding their breath for an entire quarter without a Bulls’ scoring point.  ”Every quarter, we just got a little better.  We were able to do enough to get the win, and we’ll definitely take it.  It was just a matter of being able to stop them consistently,” and they did just as Hinrich explained with a final score of 105 to 97.

The Bulls team was successful in overcoming the Hawks’ strong defense that was helpless in stopping the Bulls’ shots once they were on fire.  “They were hitting tough shots.  You can’t do anything about that when you are playing defense,” explained Hawk’s Josh Smith.  Bull’s coach Scott Skiles though his team could have played a better defense too, “Our defense was good, not great. We have played better defense than that stretch.  We were good and they just missed some shots.”

Luol Deng scored a total of 30 points for the game and a notweworthy lead in response to the 10th and final tie with a 20-footer. He believed, “today’s game was more mental than physical because we knew we were tired going in.  We just had to find a way to win today.  I think we were just more focused.  PJ Brown encouraged all the guys to bring some energy, and that helped us.” Bring some of your energy to the next Chicago Bulls’ game, support your team, get your tickets for all NBA games at StubHub.com.
